Update as of 3/15/2020: We are witnessing challenging times since the outbreak of COVID-19. Right now it is fundamental to follow the experts and authorities when it comes to preventing the spread of COVID-19. We have decided to follow the guidance of the CDC and practice socal distancing. With that said, we will be postponing our March 19th Legal Update until further notice. As we know more, we will communicate information about rescheduling.

For those who have already registred we will be refunding tickets in the next few days. Please be patient with us as we work through this process.

In the meantime we encourage you to view the below links for continued resources and information about COVID-19.

Neil Dishman, Principal at Jackson Lewis, returns to present an update on the administration and its impact on employment legislation. We will discuss what has changed already and what is likely to change in the future across many areas of employment law. Attendees will leave this update with practical tips to use at their firms to ensure compliance within today’s legislative and political environments.

For help navigating this maze, join us for an afternoon with Neil H. Dishman and J. Casey Leech, two lawyers at Jackson Lewis P.C. who focus on helping employers prevent and resolve disputes with employees.  Neil and Casey will share practical tips for how best to comply with all of the new laws (and a few not-so-new ones), including:

  • The Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act;
  • The Illinois Workplace Transparency Act;
  • The changes to the salary requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act;
  • The numerous amendments to the Illinois Human Rights Act, including the requirement the employers provide sexual-harassment-prevention training;
  • Amendments to the Illinois Equal Pay Act;
  • Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act;
  • Illinois’ Hotel and Casino Employee Safety Act;
  • The expense-reimbursement provisions of the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act; and
  • Chicago’s new “Fair Workweek” Ordinance.

Neil and Casey will also discuss expected new employment legislation that may be passed in the year to come.
